Unitech, LLC was established in 1997. Administrative offices are located in Wake Forest, NC. The production facilities and research laboratories are located in Hampton, VA. In 1999, Unitech received a unique combination of a "Memorandum of Assistance" and a "License to Produce" a patented NASA polyimide resin, RP46. This revolutionary new resin is capable of withstanding continuous temperatures of 700F with spikes to 1100F. It can be formulated as an adhesive, film, powder, coating or solid. It has shown superior performance characteristics when used as a composite with glass, graphite or kevlar. This resin avoids many of the toxicity issues associated with other polyimides while coming to the market at a significantly lower cost.
Unitech, LLC also brings to market a one-of-a-kind coating that has extensive applications in the electronic, communications, security, and defense industries. Our coating, Unishield, is a fully conductive, water-based paint that can, among other things, shield against EMI, scatter radar, reduce ship/plane signature, be tuned to emit/detect specific frequencies, ground sensitive shipboard systems, guard against airborne electronic data theft, and create embedded antennas. The paint is easy to apply, fast drying, flexible, and it has great adhesion capabilities across a wide variety of surfaces.
